O1D laser distance sensor: Device configuration

The following will guide you through key programming steps for the O1D sensors. We highlight the features used most often here. Refer to the Operating Instructions manual found under the “Downloads” tab at the product datasheet page for more details on programming the sensors and other features.

Display and indications

The O1D sensor displays distance to target in the units of measure set in the configuration menu.

  Element Description
1 4 x LED green Lighting LED = power and set display unit (mm, m, inch)
2 4 x LED yellow Indication of the switching status; lights, if the corresponding output is switched.
3 4-digit alphanumeric display Indication of the measured distance, the parameters and parameter values.
4 Programming button
[SET]
Setting of the parameter values.
5 Programming button
[MODE/ENTER]
Selection of the parameters and acknowledgement of the parameter values.

General use of pushbuttons

1 Press Enter (E) once to enter programming mode.
2 Press Up or Down arrow (U/D) to view parameters or additional menus.
3 To change setting, press Enter (E) and then Up or Down arrow (U/D) and hold until the progress bar competes. Then press Up or Down arrow (U/D) to toggle through options.
4 When desired value is reached, press Enter (E) to confirm the setting.

Change units of measure

1 Press M/E until “EF“ extended functions menu is displayed.
2 Press S to enter the menu
3 “Uni“ units of measure is displayed.
4 Press S to select desired units.
5 Press M/E to confirm the setting.

Scale the analog signal

1 Press M/E until "ou2" is displayed.
2 Press S until "I" (4...20 mA analog current) or "U" (0...10 VDC for analog voltage) is displayed.
3 Press M/E to confirm setting.
4 Press M/E until "ASP2" is displayed.
5 Press S to enter the value representing the analog start point (4 mA / 0 VDC).
6 Press M/E to confirm setting.
7 Press M/E until "AEP2" is displayed.
8 Press S to enter the value representing the analog end point (20 mA / 10 VDC)
9 Press M/E to confirm setting. After 15 seconds, the meter returns to normal run mode.

Note that the minimum distance between ASP and AEP is 20% of the full measuring range of the meter.

Behavior of the analog outputs

MEW: Final value of the measuring range

ASP:  Analog start point

AEP: Analog end point

In the set measuring range the output signal is between 4…20mA

Faults are also displayed:

  • If the object is too near or too much light is reflected to the sensor lens: 3.5mA for a rising edge ASP < AEP; 20.5mA for a falling edge ASP > AEP.
  • If the object is too far or no object presents: 20.5mA for a rising edge; 3.5mA for a falling edge.

Electronic lock

Locking Press and hold M/E and S buttons until "Loc" is displayed.
Unlocking Press and hold M/E and S buttons until "uLoc" is displayed.
