Continuous level sensor installation guidelines

Capacitive sensors can detect material though a tank or pipe wall so long as the material has a higher dielectric constant than that of the tank or pipe. Low dielectric media requires a thinner tank wall for reliable detection. Refer to the approximate selection chart to see the influence wall thickness and dielectric constant as a rough guideline of application suitability of the KQ10.

Mounting accessories

The following accessories are available to mount the KQ10.

Mounting Location / Type Size Aritcle No.
Sight glass / bypass / pipe

1/4"...1" diameter

E12676
Sight glass / bypass / pipe / tank 1"...28" diameter E10880
Tank surface > 12" diameter E12675
Adhesive  Any E12677

Bypass

Using the E12676 mounting adapter, the unit can be mounted on bypass pipes with a circular cross section. To ensure correct mounting, the external diameter of the bypass pipe should be between 5 and 25 mm.

Non-metallic (polymer) Tanks

The unit can be attached to tank walls by means of double-sided adhesive tape (available as accessory E12677 supplied in the box with the sensor) or with a surface mounted bracket (accessory E12675 purchased separately). You can also use the adhesive tape of your choice making sure that it does not contain any conductive materials.

Interchangeable Tanks

For exchangeable tanks, the back of the sensor can be screwed to the tank using the E12675 mounting adapter with wings removed and an M6 (1/4”) screw. There is one center screwing point per adapter.
