SI sanitary flow sensors: Setup and support

Thank you for your purchase of an SI flow sensor. On the following pages, you will find information to help you install and program the sensor as well as answers to frequently asked questions.

Should you need additional support, feel free to contact our service center at 800-441-8246 and speak to one of our applications engineers.

Installation guidelines for SI series of flow sensors

See our "Installation guideline" pages for more information.

Optimal insertion depth

Ensure the sensor's tip is within the medium for accurate temperature compensation.
Consider mounting accessories based on the medium temperature variations.

Pipe mounting strategies

  • Prefer vertical mounting with upward flow to guarantee full pipe conditions.
  • Horizontal mounting is conditional, depending on medium build-up and full pipe scenarios.

Mounting considerations

  • Avoid contact with the opposite pipe wall and downward flow in open systems.
  • Ensure laminar flow conditions by maintaining recommended straight pipe lengths.
  • Sanitary Installations with 3A Authorization

Aseptoflex Vario system

  • Utilize o-rings or PEEK sealing rings for durable and reliable sealing.
  • Incorporate leakage ports for early detection of seal compromises.

Fitting options

Clamp and weld fittings offer versatile mounting options.
Ensure proper orientation and sealing to prevent leaks and ensure sensor integrity.

Programming the SI Sanitary flow sensors

Read more on our "Programming" page.

Factory default and adjustment

  • Understand and utilize the factory default settings or adjust the settings based on your specific medium.
  • Perform high and low flow adjustments for precise operation.

Programming features

  • LED indicators provide immediate flow rate feedback and switch point status.
  • Simple button operations allow for straightforward programming and adjustments.

Converting flow velocity to flow rate

Flow Rate Conversion

  • Use the formula V = v x A or provided charts for quick conversions.
  • Ensure unit consistency for accurate measurements.

Accuracy and medium influence

  • Recognize that accuracy is specified for water due to the single-point measurement nature of the SI sensor.
  • Understand how glycol concentration and temperature changes affect the sensor's performance and compensate accordingly.
