Industrial ethernet switches: Technology
Unmanaged Ethernet switches from ifm provide an simple and inexpensive way to reduce Industrial Ethernet cabling while reducing cabinet space. These unmanaged switches offer a wide range of functions that suits many different application requirements.
Power StandardLine switches (AL30xx) use A-coded M12 connectors for power. PerformanceLine switches (AL31xx) use L-coded connectors and they may be daisy-chained for simpler power wiring. |
Store and forward The Ethernet switch copies each complete frame into the switch memory buffers and computes a cyclic redundancy check (CRC). If the frame is error-free, the switch forwards the frame out the appropriate interface. |
Autonegotiation This feature allows a port on a switch, router, server or other device to communicate with the device on the other end of the link to determine the optimal duplex mode and speed for the connection. |
Auto MDIX Auto MDIX (Medium Dependent Interface Crossover) ports allow you to use either a straight-through or crossover cable when connected to the network. The auto MDIX feature will auto-detect the type of cables connected and allow them to function properly. |
Connection speed Each port on the switch can support both 10 Mbps and 100 Mpbs connection speeds. |
Protection rating The field mount Ethernet switches are the perfect complements to ifm's IO-Link master family. They feature the same design, port configuration and standardized M12 connections. Their robust fully-overmolded housings withstand IP67 and IP69K ennvironments. |

Approval for mobile vehicles With increased operating temperatures, voltage range and high vibration and shock resistance, the switches are suitable for harsh environments. The E20 approval designates the product is also suited for outdoor mobile vehicles. |
