The IO-Link master B-ports are disabled by default. It is to prevent damage of an A-port device being wrongly connected to the B-port. First configure the port(s) on an IO-Link master to activate B-port. Once B-port is activated, the positioner will be operational.

The MVQ valve positioner has an accuracy of +/-2%, which is suitable for most of the applications.

5. Can the MVQ301 (as a sensing and controlling element) control other solenoids?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the MVQ301 requires a 5/3-way or 3/3-way bi-stable (dual-coil solenoid) solenoid valve, depending on the type of actuator. It does not have to be the one ifm supplies. But with the supplied solenoids, we can guarantee the functionality of the positioner.

No, the MVQ301 needs a “hold” central position, 5/2-way valve does not have a hold position.

Accepted Answer

A minimum cycle time of at least 3s is needed for the MVQ valve positioner to operate properly.

If the cycle time is faster than 3s, the control accuracy may drop.

There is no air leakage. The MVQ positioner uses air to move the process valve to the desired holding position, and once the solenoid reaches this position, there is no additional compressed air consumption, thus eliminating leakage.

10. Can the MVQ valve positioner be used on diverter valves? (e.g. 3-position diverter valves)

Yes, however, the puck design cannot be changed. The different positions can be indicated by the LEDs.

Check the location of the actuator's spring chamber. Confirm that Port 3 on the solenoid and throttle plate are connected to the spring chamber for proper operation.

14. I’ve completed everything correctly, but why isn’t my valve moving?

Accepted Answer

The throttle plate is fully closed when delivered. If the wiring, airlines, and mounting are all correct, try loosening the throttle plate ports to allow air to flow into the actuator.

15. Why are the solenoids “clicking” and the valve position feedback fluctuating after the valve reaches the target position?

Accepted Answer

There may be points of air leakage in the system, such as in the actuator, solenoid valve seals, or process connections. When air is lost, the sensor detects a position shift and attempts to bring the valve back to the target position.
Another possible cause could be small piping. If the pipe diameter is too small (e.g., <1/4”), the sensor may take longer to learn the setup and properly control the valve.
