ifm is pleased to offer accessories to help you expand your plant's IO-Link capabilities. The Bluetooth adapter allows you to connect directly to an IO-Link device and view and record process data wirelessly. Explore this new technology below.
Broaden the capabilities of your IO-Link system with the new Bluetooth adapter from ifm. This adapter is an inline device between a sensor and an IO-Link master and it allows you to view process data in real time over your smartphone or tablet without interfering with your process control. With the built-in memory, you can record measurement values and retrieve them later.
Download the ifm QuickLook app at the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Tablet / smartphone requirements:
ifm QuickLook app
Download the app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. It’s easy and intuitive to use. Click on “Connect device” and find the correct adapter. It will automatically find the connected sensor and display the current process value. You can also record data on the adapter and download later for analysis.
Data logging
Because the adapter features a large on-board memory for data recording, you can simplify plant diagnosis without placing additional burden on your PLC programmer. Set the data recording functions such as sample rate and recording time via the ifm QuickLook app. Download the recording as a CSV file.

Q. How much memory is on board?
A. There is 32 MB of file storage. For reference, sampling at 100 ms for 1 hour produces a file size of 1.2 MB.
Q. What is the range of the device?
A. The theoretical range of Bluetooth 4.0 technology is about 60 m. The plant environment affects the actual working range. We recommend you test in your plant.
Q. Can the ifm QuickLook app connect to multiple Bluetooth adapters simultaneously?
A. No. The app will scan and find multiple devices, but you can only connect to one device at a time.
Q. Can you connect more than one mobile device to the adapter simultaneously?
A. No. Due to the nature of Bluetooth technology, you can only establish one connection at a time. If you are logged and connected with one mobile device, you will not be able to connect with another mobile device.
Q. Can you write or change parameters with the adapter?
A. No. Currently, you can only read the device's process data and record data for a period of time.
Q. Do I need an IO-Link master in place to use the Bluetooth adapter?
A. Yes, it is an inline device between the IO-Link master and IO-Link sensor.
