Point level and continuous level for industrial and sanitary applications

Continuous level measurement
Description Technology Media Measurable depth Learn More
KQ10 noncontact capacitive level detection provides continuous feedback
Eliminate tank penetrations and reduce mounting time by sensing media through tank walls. At-a-glance LED visualization clearly indicated the true media level.
Capacitive Liquids and bulk solids 228 mm
Stackable
LW noncontact radar sensor for sanitary applications provides high accuracy level measurement
Tank level up to 10 m can be measured with an accuracy of +/- 2 mm, improving your inventory calculations. Internal alorithms recognize and ignore tank obstructions for easy configuration.
Free radar Liquids 0.01...10 m
LW noncontact radar sensor for open tank and outside applications
Tank level up to 10 m can be measured with an accuracy of +/- 2 mm. Has FCC radio approvals for open tank applications. Internal alorithms recognize and ignore tank obstructions, as well as measures level through the top of non-metallic tanks.
Free radar Liquids 0.01...10 m
LR guided wave radar for sanitary applications provides affordable level detection
A media-independent level transmitter, the LR guided wave radar sensor uses probes that can be cut-to-length for a perfect applicaiton fit.
Guided wave radar Liquids 100...2000 mm
LR guided wave radar top-down mounting makes retrofitting simple
Mechanical float swtiches can stick and tuning forks only offer a single switchpoint. The LR guided wave radar uses time of flight technology for reliable level measurement using time of flight technology.
Guided wave radar Liquids 100...2000 mm
R1D radar sensor for distance and level detection in harsh environments
ifm's R1D narrow beam distance sensor uses FMCW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) radar to precisely detect objects, speed, and position. Since it does not depend on visually seeing an object, radar sensors are ideal for indoor / outdoor operation in conditons including rain, snow, fog, smoke and complete darkness.
Frequency modulated continuous wave radar Liquids and bulk solids 0.25...35 m
Pressure sensors provide continuous level measurement in open and closed tanks
Hydrostatic pressure is a well known method for level meassurement. ifm offers various housings and process connections, inlcuding sanitary fittings for food and beverage applications, that measure in inH2O.

LI point level sensors offer a simple and reliable alternative to mechanical float switches
Capacitive technology has no moving parts to maintain and provides additional resistance to false triggering due to buildup.
Liquids 132...737 mm
LMC point level sensors are immune to buildup, splashes and foam
Increase process performance with level sensors that won't bridge or false trigger due to viscous or sticky media like tuning forks do.
Liquids and bulk solids 10...40 mm
LMT point level sensors for sanitary applications are immune to buildup, splashes and foam
Increase process performance with level sensors that won't bridge or false trigger due to viscous or sticky media like tuning forks do. The sanitary design allows it to be in direct contact with food products and remain installed during CIP processes.
Liquids and bulk solids 11...253 mm

Point level and continuous level sensors reduce downtime

Mechanical float level switches can stick or break. Material can bridge between the prongs of tuning forks. These situations lead to false level indication which, in turn, leads to manufacturing inefficiency and dowtime required to replace failed sensors.

ifm's level sensors use technologies such as capacitive, guided wave radar, free radar and impedence spectroscopy to provide the most reliable solutions for applications in food and beverage, machine tools, waste water management, hyraaulic systems, and pump run-dry protection.

Installation is flexible with noncontact, top-down or side-mount products and, because most ifm level sensors are IO-Link enabled, setup is achieved in a few minutes using the moneo | configure software on a laptop or the moneo | blue app that runs on a mobile device.
