Installation guidelines

For best performance of the O2D5 vision sensors, please adhere to the guidelines in the operating manual available on the "Download" tab of the datasheet. The following highlights some of these guidelines.

  • Avoid installing in applications with changing light conditions since this can affect image quality. Consider external supplemental lighting in these cases.
  • Avoid high vibration areas or provide vibration isolation if necessary.
  • The pressure compensation element on the bottom of the sensor helps prevent condensation inside the unit. Ensure it is not covered when installing the sensor.

Wiring and triggering

Image capture can be triggered with a binary device (like a photoelectric sensor) connected to the trigger input, a command from the process interface (EtherNet/IP or TCP/IP) or continuous capture with a fixed frame rate.

Supplemental lighting

While the integrated LED light source in the O2D code reader provides enough illumination for most applications, there are times when additional external light is required.
