Compact speed monitors with IO-link
In many industrial applications, drives are monitored for rotational speed or standstill. In the automotive, food, steel and mining industries, speed sensors are used to safely detect standstill, overspeed and underspeed of drives or belt break on conveyors. On mobile machines such as fork-lift trucks, speed sensors serve as speed pick-ups.
ifm’s compact speed sensors integrate rotational speed detection and monitoring in one unit. This allows for low-cost and easy monitoring of rotating speed. The sensor head operates using inductive or magnetic sensing principles and it detects a target on a rotating machine part. The integrated evaluation converts this information into rotational speed. The limit of the speed at which the output switches is set via IO-Link.
- 2 in 1: speed sensor and evaluation in one compact housing
- Industry standard M12, M18 and M30 housings as well as a compact cube housing
- Adjustable modes, e.g. single, two point or window mode
- Many additional functions via IO-Link
- Flush and nonflush sensing available
– only one damping element is required on the rotating shaft
The sensor uses the time between two damping events to calculate the speed
Exceeding or falling short of the nominal speed is forwarded via a configurable output signal
No false triggering thanks to configurable start-up delay
