LMT sanitary levels sensors: Applications

High and low point level detection of liquids and bulk solids

Tuning forks and capacitive sensors are typically used for point level applications. Viscous media can bridge between the forks and buildup on the face of a capacitive sensor can both cause false readings.

The LMT family of uses a frequency sweeping technology that detects the difference between buildup and actual media.

Pump run-dry

Protecting pumps from run-dry conditions for food products such as milk, yogurt, beer and jelly and cosmetics like shampoo and conditioner can be challenging due to false detection. Starving a pump can cause costly damage.

The LMT sensors eliminate downtime and reduce maintenance costs by easily detecting the difference between media and residue.

Product differentiation

Often, more expensive instruments are required to detect the difference between products, cleaning solutions and water.

The LMT has two switch points that can be set to detect different media. Using IO-Link, the relative value of the media can be transmitted, stored and analyzed for process transparency.
