Ceramic capacitive technology

At the core of ceramic capacitive technology is the ceramic (Al₂O₃) measuring cell. After assembly, the ceramic element functions as a plate capacitor, with a reference electrode and a measuring electrode separated by just 0.01 mm. The capacitance is inversely proportional to the distance between these electrodes. As pressure is applied, the distance changes slightly, causing a proportional shift in capacitance. This change is then converted into a digital pressure reading by the sensor's microprocessor, enabling highly accurate pressure measurements in demanding environments.

Pressure sensor diagram - ceramic capacitive model

Pressure sensor diagram showing the names of components: ceramic capacitive model
  1. PCB microprocessor - Evaluates capacitance and converts it into a pressure value.
  2. Ceramic capacitive base - Provides a stable foundation for measurement.
  3. Outer ceramic diaphragm - Directly exposed to the applied pressure.
  4. Applied pressure - Forces the plates together, altering capacitance in proportion to pressure.

Note: While the sensor body varies across different product families, the measuring cell assembly remains the same for all models.
