Encoders: Installation guidelines

Encoders have two basic designs - solid shaft and hollow shaft. Installation of each is slightly different.

Solid shaft encoders require a coupling to connect the encoder to the rotating shaft.

Hollow shaft encoders mount directly to the rotating shaft and are held in place by a set screw.
