LI capacitive sensor: Installation guidelines
Installation guidelines
Distances reflect water in grounded metal tank except where noted
a) 100mm for oil in grounded metal tank; b) 200mm for all media in ungrounded plastic tank
Setting the installation depth:
The unit operates with radial detection characteristics. Therefore, the unit detects media when it reaches the active zone (A=28mm), and media below the probe will not be detected.
The position of the exact level switch point depends on the following factors:
- Characteristics of the media (i.e. dielectric constant, viscosity, etc.)
- Environmental and installation conditions (i.e. presence of foam, turbulence, rate of level change)
- Adjustment of the unit (see Programming section under Setup and support)
The following guidelines should be followed when setting the installation depth:
- Ensure 60 mm (2-3/8”) or more of the probe is below the mounting connection or inside wall of tank.
- Make sure at least half of the active zone (A) will be covered at desired switching point.
- Use supplied stainless steel tube clip to fix the installation depth in a blank hole or use one of the available mounting accessories (see Select Products).
