This course is delivered over five half-days in a virtual classroom format. Each day includes 2–3 hours of self-guided training and exercise in the morning, followed by a 20–30 minute instructor-led review session in the afternoon. On the first day, there is also a 20-minute setup check with the trainer in the morning.

Day 1:
- Set-up check
- Getting started with a background and basics of Codesys
- Adding libraries and creating some code
Day 2 :
- Codesys languages
- Data types, keywords and naming conventions
- Working with controllers: basics, inputs
Day 3:
- Working with controllers: outputs
- Communications between controllers and displays
Day 4:
- CAN communication: Basics, CAN monitor, J1939, CANopen, Raw CAN receives
Day 5:
- CAN Communication: Raw CAN transmits
- Visualization: Page changes, creating reusable visualizations
- Alarm Configuration
- Multi-language support
- Debugging tools

Virtual self-guided sessions with instructional videos are offered each training day, to include lab activities and skill checks daily.
ifm will provide pre-configured training kits to use during course labs which will be returned to ifm at the end of the course
Learning assessments and skill-checks are embedded throughout the training schedule to ensure competency is achieved

Each day of training will conclude with a knowledge check in the form of a short quiz, encompassing concepts and principles established in each day of training
Skills are further reinforced with hands-on lab portions of CODESYS V3.5 Level 1 instruction.
