If the existing seal is replaced by the optionally available seal E12840, the KTE (front) is compliant with FDA.

What's new compared to the previous generation?

The new KTE touch sensors have a more robust housing and are absolutely ingress-resistant and yet very flexible thanks to the interchangeable symbol discs.
The symbol discs are easy to replace irrespective of the symbol or material.
Up to 5 colors can be triggered via 2 digital inputs even without IO-Link.
The sensitivity of the sensors can be adjusted to damp or dirty environments.

What do I need to consider when mounting the sensor?

The symbol discs are not included and must be ordered separately.
The stainless steel symbol discs also fit on the plastic KTEs, however, the sensor adjustments were made based on the characteristics of equivalent materials.
In humid environments, the sensor should be used with a symbol disc of the same material.
The KTE101 sensor is supplied with a transparent symbol disc and various stickers. With this product, the orientation of the connector is not fixed.
If the nut is too tight to be opened by hand, it can also be loosened with a size-27 open-end wrench:

How do you prevent unintentional triggering of the button?

An adjustable delay timer (0…2 seconds, adjustable in steps of 0.1 s) can be set to prevent any unintentional triggers.

The capacitive touch sensor can be set for the following colors:
Blue, Green, Cyan, Red, Purple, Yellow, White, Amber, and up to 2 custom colors.

What operating modes are available?

Accepted Answer

Dynamic / momentary – As soon as the field is damped, the button will switch for 300 msec.
Static – The button switches as long as the field is damped. When undamped, the button switches to the opposite state.
Bistable – The button switches as soon as the field is damped and remains switched until the field is damped again.
Combination:

Switching status OFF:
- Tap: on for 300 ms (minimum switch-on time).
- Continuous activation: on for the duration of the activation.
- Double tap: on (continuously ON).
Switching status ON:
- Tap: off, switch-on lock for 300 ms (because of the double tap).
- Continuous activation: off.
- Double tap: off.

What process information is available via IO-Link?

From the input table, the device status and current switching status (on / off signal) of digital signal 1 and 2. From the output table, LED colors and behavior can be set on the fly.
