The company Chiresa AG in Switzerland specializes in the environmentally friendly and economic recycling of hazardous waste. One type of waste is filter ash from incineration plants containing heavy metals dissolved in hydrochloric acid. Using fully automated filter presses made by the company Aquachem, the hydroxide sludge is neutralized and recycled as a solid filter cake.

The filter press uses multiple ifm sensors for optimum process flow and energy management.

Below the press is a container that collects the filter cake for removal. Laser distance sensors and inclination sensors support an angle-adjustable rocker which ensures that the container is filled evenly.
