High-precision calibration with ifm electronic

Precise and reliable measuring instruments are essential for smooth processes and high-quality products. As an experienced calibration service provider, our calibration laboratory offers tailor-made solutions for the calibration and recalibration of your measuring equipment.

Calibrations are becoming increasingly important. In various industries, such as the food, pharmaceutical and automotive industries, standards and guidelines require calibrations or verifications to ensure consistent product quality and avoid product recalls.*

The calibration certificate documents the target/actual comparison of the reference device and the test item and forms the basis for audit-compliant quality management. With the transparency gained about the measurement deviation, calibration factors in the device or control parameters can be adjusted independently, minimising measurement errors.

Depending on individual requirements and national specifications, ISO, A2LA and DAkkS calibrations are available for both initial and recalibration.

*Certified and validated processes in compliance with DIN EN ISO 9001 ensure consistently high quality for calibrations and recalibrations. This means they meet the requirements of relevant standards such as IFS Food, GMP, HACCP, DIN EN ISO 9001 and DIN EN ISO 50001.

 

Calibration method for pressure sensors

The comparative measurement for the calibration of pressure sensors is performed with electronic pressure controllers and high-precision deadweight testers by using known mass pieces.

Calibration method for temperature sensors

Here the comparative measurement is performed in stirred, temperature-controlled liquid baths by using high-precision reference temperature sensors.

Calibration method for flow sensors

Depending on the medium, the comparative measurement is performed by using high-precision reference flow devices and critical nozzles.

Calibration method for vibration sensors

The comparative measurement of vibration sensors is carried out by comparing the measured value of the transducer to be calibrated with that of a standard accelerometer.

Calibration method for analytical sensors

The comparative measurement is performed by using a secondary calibration solution.

Benefit from accredited calibrations

Performance of accredited calibrations (DAkkS)

The calibration is performed by ifm as an accredited laboratory by means of a comparative measurement according to guideline DKD-R 5-1 (11/2023) “Calibration of Resistance Thermometers” or guideline DKD-R 6-1 (03/2014) “Calibration of Pressure Gauges” or guideline KV-F001:2020-09 “Internal calibration method for flow sensors”.

Measuring systems for issuing DAkkS / factory certificates

They are traceable to national standards of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) or other national standards. In contrast to DAkkS calibration certificates, factory certificates are not accepted as traceability proof.

 

Special remarks

  • In addition to analogue process values, ifm offers the option to also specify IO-Link process values in the calibration certificate.
  • All certificates are bilingual and issued in German and English
  • Corresponding certificates must be requested when ordering the article in question
