Alignment
Align the transmitter so that the green LED on the receiver display turns on. Fix the transmitter and receiver in place.
Synchronization
To ensure reliable function, the transmitter and receiver must be synchronized. The following paragraphs explain how to accomplish synchronization optically or through y-splitters.
Synchronization using y-splitters
The simplest way of synchronizing the transmitter and receiver is by using a y-splitter connecting them. All internal connections are made automatically. Simply choose the y-splitter based on desired detection width.
- EY5054 for 0...2 m detection width
- EY5053 for 1...10 m detection width
1 = y-splitter; 2 = wiring for power, switching, and IO-Link
Synchronization using standard cordsets
Even though y-splitters make synchronization simple, they are not required. When using standard cables, follow the wiring diagram shown below based on desired detecting width.
- Tie pin 4 from transmitter to pin 2 from receiver
- For 0...2 m width, tie pin 2 on transmitter to 0 VDC
- For 1...10 m width, tie pin 2 on transmitter to 24 VDC
1 = transmitter wiring; 2 = receiver wiring; SYNC = synchronization wire; IN = desired range
Optical synchronization
The top beam of the transmitter and receiver can be used to optically synchronize. Note: when synchronizing optically, the top beam is not available for detecting objects in the application. It is used exclusively for synchronization. Follow the wiring diagram below based on desired range.
- For 0...2 m width, tie pin 2 on transmitter to 0 VDC
- For 1...10 m width, tie pin 2 on transmitter to 24 VDC
1 = transmitter wiring; 2 = receiver wiring; IN = desired range
