Installation guidelines

Flush-mount sensors can be embedded flush with surrounding metal. There is no impact on the operation of the sensor.

Because non-flush sensors create a larger electromagnetic field, mounting them too close to metal can cause predamping or false triggers.

The following information provides general information for installation. Please refer to the operating instructions for more details.

Should you need additional support, feel free to contact our service center at 800-441-8246 and speak to one of our applications engineers.

Mechanical installation of cylindrical designs

Flush-mount sensors can be embedded flush with surrounding metal. When mounting non-flush sensors in surrounding metal, observe the guidelines below.

  • Sn = Sensing range
  • d = Sensor diameter

Mounting in metal -- flush sensors (left), non-flush sensors (right)

Mechanical installation of rectangular designs

Flush-mount sensors can be embedded flush with surrounding metal. When mounting non-flush sensors in surrounding metal, observe the guidelines below.

  • a = Sensor face length

Mounting in metal -- flush sensors (left and center), non-flush sensors (right)

Recommended detection conditions

With respect to target size, distance to any background, etc., follow the guidelines in the image below.
