Typical measuring system
To accurately measure oil condition, humidity sensors should be installed in a representative position, such as in the return flow. Ideally, place an LDH oil humidity sensor in the tank near the return pipe. Alternatively, it can be installed in the rinse pipe if there are interferences like gears with forced rinsing.

- Connection of the rinse pipe
- Unit directly screwed into the tank wall
*The pipe length may consist of a pipe section of a suitable diameter.
Important sensor placement for operation
To properly install the LDH oil humidity sensor, ensure the sensor probe is fully submerged in the measured medium and placed where there is consistent flow around the sensing element to prevent dry running and potential damage. Mount the unit below the minimum oil level in all operating conditions and away from heat sources such as motors to avoid thermal interference.
- Wrong installation position
- Minimum oil level in the tank
- Connection of the return pipe
- Connection of the rinse pipe
- Sensor vertically installed in the bottom*
- Horizontally installed sensor
- Installation angle
*Note possible formation of layers or sediment
If installing the sensor in a lower position within an oil tank, ensure the oil is sufficiently mixed to prevent stratification (layers of oil with different saturation levels).
When installing the unit in a return or rinse pipe, maintain consistent flow around the sensing element to prevent dry running in any operating condition.
Ensure the measuring element is fully submerged in the oil, taking into account potential variations in tank level or tilted positions during installation.
LDH112 (G1/2): Check profile sealing ring (A) for correct position (in a groove).
LDH122 (1/2"NPT): Apply a suitable sealing material (e.g. PTFE tape) to the thread, if required.
Lightly grease the thread of the unit using a lubricating paste which is suitable and approved for the application. Screw the unit into the process connection (B) and tighten firmly.
Maximum tightening torque:
-
LDH112: 20...25 Nm
-
LDH122: ≤ 50 Nm
