ifm spotted: Precision work? No problem when using ifm products!
03/07/2023 - Working in his home office, ifm colleague Andreas Röhrig was temporarily distracted when his neighbour had his prefabricated garages delivered. The latter were placed with millimetre precision using ifm sensors.
Isn’t it amazing how you can buy prefabricated and ready-to-use garages these days, and have them delivered? However, then their installation requires a lot of technology and automation, which is where ifm solutions come in!
The garage manufactured by the German company GRÖTZ came complete with a rolling gate and was delivered on a special vehicle equipped with a gripper arm. The arm was inserted through the open gate to lift the prefabricated garage from inside. "With the whole garage being lifted in the air, it can be placed on the prefabricated foundation with millimetre precision - pretty impressive," says Andreas Röhrig, Senior Project Engineer Mobile Applications.
The special superstructure of ifm customer Trautwein’s cargo vehicle houses pressure sensors and I/O modules for mobile machines. They enable decentralised connection of various sensors and actuators.
Did you know? "A single prefabricated concrete garage in the standard size of three metres wide and six metres long weighs 14 to 16 tonnes. The normal wall thickness varies between six and ten centimetres, depending on the manufacturer." |
