The certification and re-certification documents were handed over today.

July 7, 2023 - Since 2020, ifm locations in Essen, Tettnang-Bechlingen, and Wasserburg sites have been externally certified according to EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme.)

Adding to the three sites that have been certified for three years, the Lake Constance and Rosenheim locations of ifm have now been certified. After the successful re-certification, the certificates were handed over today.

EMAS is based on the European Eco Audit Regulation EC No. 1221/2009. It contains all the requirements of international standard ISO 14001 and goes beyond them in some areas. For example, EMAS offers the advantage of legal certainty through verification by environmental auditors. EMAS organizations are also required to publish an environmental statement with a significant amount of minimum standards, such as a description of environmental activities or environmental performance indicators.

The audits at the various sites took place in March, and were completed with high marks. For the certified sites, the auditors attested that their environmental management was compliant with the relevant standards, that there were no signs of non-compliance with the applicable environmental regulations, and that the environmental statement reflected an accurate reflection of all activities. Over the next few years, ifm plans to introduce a certified environmental management system at all of its international sites, and to have all of its global production sites certified to ISO 14001.
