Actuator-Sensor Interface (AS-i)

The AS-i gateways control the data exchange to the sensor/actuator level and communicate rapidly with the superior control level. They can be used as independent, decentralised controllers or as gateways to all common fieldbus systems. The range includes interfaces with EtherNet/IP, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, EtherCAT or CANopen.

What is AS-i?

AS-Interface, often abbreviated as AS-i, is a manufacturer-independent industrial networking standard connecting actuators and sensors of the first field level. It streamlines the integration of sensors and actuators with a control system.

AS-i bus system setup and AS-i protocol

This AS-i bus system uses a two-wire flat cable to carry power and data. The AS-i gateways control the data exchange to the sensor/actuator level. They communicate rapidly with the higher level control system. They can be used as independent, decentralized controllers or as gateways to all common fieldbus systems.

Components

The AS-interface master serves as the central hub for AS-i communication. It acts as a gateway between the AS-i network and other fieldbus systems. This setup ensures smooth data transmission and controls signal flow.
