GIB becomes GIB again
CLEARER, FASTER, MORE POWERFUL!
ifm separates its supply chain management business from the group structure
Sometimes it takes a bold step to unlock full potential – and that is exactly the step our parent company ifm is now taking. GIB will no longer be part of ifm’s integrated value chain. That is why ifm is bringing together the various units of supply chain solutions under the “new” GIB. With ifm acting purely as a financial investor, we will be able to develop our core business more effectively outside the group’s processes and structures. In future, we will operate independently in the market – with our own logo, our own website and our own email addresses.
The “new” GIB…
leverages its strengths as an independent company to the full.

Interview with the designated CEOs:
WHAT DOES THE “NEW GIB” STAND FOR?
What will change? What will stay the same? What impact will the strategic carve-out have on products, performance and collaboration with customers? Björn Dunkel, Volker Blöchl and Bilgin Kilic provide the answers.
What is the strategic direction of the new GIB?
B. Dunkel:
“We clearly position ourselves as a software company – with a focus on supply chain essentials and measurable added value. Our SAP-compatible standard software adapts to our customers’ preferred operating model – from on-premises to private and public cloud.”
What sets your solutions apart from others on the market?
V. Blöchl:
“Our customers get exactly what they need – supply chain essentials. To this end, we offer powerful, SAP-compatible standard software rather than complex custom developments – simple, scalable and future-proof. Our solutions make even complex supply chains transparent, manageable and economically successful.”
What specific challenges are you addressing?
B. Kilic:
“Our customers are facing increasing complexity, volatile markets and growing pressure on stock levels and delivery performance. This is exactly where we come in – with software that makes the key levers visible and usable.”
What specific added value can customers expect?
B. Dunkel:
“Above all, measurable benefits: optimised stock levels, better planning and higher delivery performance – delivered quickly. Our solutions can be implemented in just a few days, without high upfront investments. We continuously integrate updates and innovations directly into existing SAP processes – without the need for major upgrade projects. Subscriptions enable flexible adaptation to changing business requirements – which is particularly important in dynamic supply chain environments.”
How does your offering fit into the SAP ecosystem?
V. Blöchl:
”Our SAP-compatible standard software provides a secure and direct path into the future of the SAP world – whether on-premises or in the cloud. We have been an SAP partner since 1998: certified for integration with RISE and for Clean Core in SAP S/4HANA. Our solutions remain close to the standard, upgradeable and sustainably future-proof.”
What does your new setup mean for collaboration with customers?
B. Kilic:
“We bring everything together under one organisation – development, consulting, support and sales. This creates clear responsibilities, faster decision-making and significantly shorter lines of communication. Consulting remains an important part of our offering – but will no longer be a standalone service. Consulting adds value where it benefits you: during implementation, enablement and successful use of our software. Our customers benefit from faster response times, more efficient releases and more direct interaction – while retaining the same contacts and unchanged contracts.”
How strong is your market position today?
B. Dunkel:
“Very strong: Over 1,000 customers worldwide place trust us, and more than 100,000 users run our software on over 2,000 SAP systems. We plan to systematically expand this base internationally – across the DACH region, Italy, and increasingly in the United States, following the principle of “think global, deliver local.”
How is demand developing at the moment?
B. Kilic:
”Very dynamic. Companies are investing heavily in optimising their supply chains – aiming to realise efficiency gains and become more resilient. Our new strategic direction comes at exactly the right time.”
How do you drive innovation and further development?
V. Blöchl:
”We are focusing on greater innovation – through faster releases, high-quality products and a clear roadmap. On increased speed – through direct contact, better accessibility and solution-focused dialogue. And on greater impact – through targeted solutions, measurable added value and ongoing optimisation. This ensures our customers are always at the cutting edge of technology.”
When will the “new GIB” officially be launched on the market – and what does that mean in the meantime?
B. Dunkel:
”Our official market launch is in October. Until then, we will continue to develop the organisation in a targeted manner, address all structural issues in line with a clear roadmap and, with ifm’s support, ensure a smooth transition. The following applies to our customers: We are fully operational at all times. Our aim is clear: We’ll get the most out of your supply chain – and use your success as the foundation for our shared growth.”
