A peek behind the curtain
ifm product innovations at SPS 2019
Here is a brief overview of some new and exciting ifm products due to be unveiled at SPS 2019 in Nuremberg:
The key to industrial IoT
Everyone talks about IoT, we provide the key to it: Our IoT gateway transfers the measured values of connected IO-Link sensors directly into the cloud via the GSM mobile network. A web-based dashboard allows the user to visualise and analyse the data.
Converter between analogue signals and IO-Link
An Industry 4.0 connection for conventional analogue sensors? The new ifm converters easily convert analogue sensor signals into digital IO-Link communication. ifm now also offers converters for the opposite direction, for example for controlling valves or frequency converters.
2 in 1: Measure distance and reflectivity with the OGD Reflectivity
This new photoelectric sensor is used to measure reflectivity in addition to the distance information in order to increase the reliability of process control. This makes it ideally suited for object identification and sorting tasks.
Never lose orientation: IO-Link multiturn encoders
The new multiturn encoder, with a total resolution of 31 bits, offers a broad range of position and speed capacities. Thanks to the robust and battery-free magnetic measuring technology, the sensor also detects movement even if the machine is deactivated. Special feature: Position sensors can signal end positions directly to the encoder via the digital input - without any need for the PLC to interfere. This avoids time delays and mechanical displacements, e.g. during fast cutting processes.
Long range, compact housing: inductive sensor in M8 design
Measuring just 30 mm, this inductive sensor is well adapted for use in applications with limited installation space. Yet, with a sensing range of 6 mm, its performance is on par with larger types.
Calibration check technology: This temperature sensor performs self-checks!
Demanding processes require reliable and accurate temperature measurements. The TCC temperature transmitter not only offers high accuracy. It performs continuous self-checks and issues a warning should inaccuracies occur. This ensures maximum process reliability.
Without detours: valve sensor with direct connection to the control valve
The new MVQ valve sensor not only monitors the position of a valve within 0.1 degree accuracy. It also supports direct connection of a solenoid valve via an M12 connection, which can be controlled via IO-Link. This reduces the wiring and installation complexity, minimising potential sources of error.
KQ10 for continuous range monitoring of point levels
The capacitive sensor detects bulk materials or liquids in non-metallic tanks without contact. No maintenance is required. What makes the sensor unique is that it continuously monitors a range of 250 mm and features 20 LEDs to display the real level inside the vessel. Moreover, three switch points can be freely defined via IO-Link, allowing the signalling of deposits on the inner tank walls for maintenance purposes.
Conductivity sensor LDL for CIP monitoring - a new approach
The new conductivity sensors LDL100 and LDL200 are distinguished by their compact design and easy connection: They quickly detect changing media such as water, cleaning agents and foods with high precision. This helps to optimise cleaning cycles and improve plant availability.
