Vortex flow measurement technology
The vortex flow principle is a proven method for measuring flow of water based liquids.
A wedge-shaped bluff body and a sensing element are integrated in the measuring pipe. Behind the bluff body, the flowing medium generates swirling vortices / differences in pressure that are detected by the sensing element. The frequency of the vortex formation is proportional to the flow rate.
This technology enables a simple, low cost and easily manufactured flow meter. It does not rely on media conductivity, so it is ideal for flow of deionized water. Our vortex flow meters use IO-Link technology to provide actionable alerts and real-time data.
The SV sensor should only be used in applications that are 95% water (less than 5% additives). Since vortices do not form well in oil, these sensors are not suitable for oil flow applications.
