ifm is a member of the ADAMOS alliance

11/24/20

The ifm group has been a member of the ADAMOS network, which is a strategic alliance of world market leaders in mechanical and plant construction for the future topics of Industry 4.0 and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) since October 2020.

ADAMOS stands for ADAptive Manufacturing Open Solutions and is an initiative by machine builders for machine builders - founded to bundle the industry's forces for digitalisation. Sensors play a central role in this.

The ifm group of companies, a successful supplier of sensor technology and automation solutions on the world market for more than 50 years, is currently leaping from operating technology to the higher IT level with complementary software and service products under the brand "ifm moneo". Customers can now establish an end-to-end digital value-added chain and combine elements of the digital world with the world of machinery.

"In ADAMOS we have found equal-minded partners," says Michael Marhofer, Chairman and co-CEO of the ifm group. With the ADAMOS alliance, shareholders and partners foster and develop solutions for their challenges - and for the benefit of the entire network. "Supporting digitalisation in mechanical engineering and advancing the topics of interoperability, plug & play and simplicity provide a strong motivation for us as a group of companies while also being a welcome extension of the ADAMOS network."

The ifm group has equipped its Edge product portfolio with various cloud connectors, so that a self-contained end-to-end system for connecting any machines and systems to the cloud is possible. Still, this system remains open on both sides. Thus it is also possible to "connect" with ADAMOS in the truest sense of the word on a technological basis using standardised products.

Sanjay Brahmawar, CEO Software AG, adds: "We are very pleased to welcome the ifm group to ADAMOS. ifm's experience in industrial automation, IIoT, Edge and cloud-based solutions is huge and will be an invaluable asset in strengthening our digital ecosystem. It will also help our customers to realise their digitisation initiatives faster and better."

Together with over 30 partners, the alliance pursues one goal: an ecosystem in which integrated solutions for mechanical and plant construction and their customers can be jointly designed, developed, marketed and used. This not only includes the development of digital products, connectivity, but also scalable sales processes and universal usability of applications on the shop floor. "Our goal is the future viability of mechanical and plant construction," said Ralf W. Dieter, Chairman of the Executive Board of Dürr AG and Chairman of the Advisory Board of ADAMOS GmbH. "We need good ecosystems, integrated solutions and intuitive user interfaces to reduce complexity for the user. The current Corona situation shows how important digital structures are for business. ADAMOS is the joint response of the mechanical engineering industry to the challenges of digitalisation."
