Crossbelt sorter monitoring technology

Transcript:

What if your crossbelt sorter was always available and didn't shut down unexpectedly? What if you could mitigate sorter crashes and the associated damage? What if your crossbelt sorter would alert you when there is a problem rather than creating a future down situation?

Hi, my name is Lauren and I'm a sales engineer at ifm. Crossbelt sortation equipment is critical to the operation of a distribution center. If a cross belt sorter goes down unexpectedly, it creates delays in customer deliveries and idle labor time.

At ifm, we offer technology to continuously monitor your crossbelt sorter by notifying you of potential future problems and, if desired, interacting with your sorter to prevent cascading damage. Using ifm's VSC vibration controller, we can monitor both the rotating components on the system for fatigue, and impacts that occur during the sortation process.

Ifm's VSC processes this data on the edge, sending critical information back to the PLC in under one millisecond for immediate action during a jam or collision. The VSC has two dedicated isolated networks inside: One for the PLC interaction and the other for data collection and cloud software systems.

This makes the VSC a powerful tool for monitoring both existing operations and new Greenfield installations.

A case study is available on our website as well as a webinar on the basic principles of vibration monitoring.
