Level and system pressure applications
Tank level
Pressure sensors are used to monitor tank level in process tanks. Often, these sensors are fitted with diaphragm seals which are fragile and easily damaged in the cleaning process when hit directly by spray balls or when mechanically cleaned. What if you didn’t have to worry about damaging metal diaphragms or fill fluid leaking into your process?
The direct process measurement via the PM’s capacitive-ceramic technology offers an accurate solution in a robust package.
Insulated tank level
Many times, process tanks are insulated to keep the medium inside a constant temperature. Often, pressure transmitters to measure level in these applications are fitted with diaphragm seals which extend the body of the sensor to reach the medium though the insulation. The diaphragm seals are fragile and easily damaged in the cleaning process when hit directly by spray balls or when mechanically cleaned. What if you didn’t have to worry about damaging metal diaphragms or fill fluid leaking into your process?
The direct process measurement via the PY’s capacitive-ceramic technology offers an accurate solution in a robust package. ifm makes adapters to retrofit the PY and PM sensors into existing weld-in tank shells.
Line pressure
Have you ever had issues with the vent of your pressure sensors? Transmitters are used to monitor line pressure in various sanitary applications, including pasteurizers that are subjected to high-pressure washdown. ifm’s PM sensors have been designed with this in mind. The vent is rotatable, so the transmitter can be installed in any orientation, and the vent can be moved to an optimal position after installation. This allows media to flow freely through the vent, reducing the potential for clogging and making it easier to clean.
Additionally, the PM15 is the first 1/2” sensor with sanitary approvals on the market. The smaller process connection allows for easier integration into small line sizes, which reduces cost and eliminates dead space in the connection, improving cleanability.
Industrial applications with viscous media
The PM family of sensors is well suited for industrial applications with its robust measurement cell and flush design that prevents clogging associated with standard industrial pressure ports. The robust design is ideal for harsh environments with a single piece stainless steel housing, washdown rating, and high temperature limits.
The following adapters are available to make installation easy with standard NPT process connections.
