As the largest local transport company in the Ruhr region, the Ruhrbahn ensures the mobility of 140 million passengers a year - with ifm sensors also helping out.

257 buses, 165 trams, three underground lines, eleven tram lines and 52 bus routes - together this forms the local transport network of the Ruhrbahn. Needless to say, this network also includes a number of underground stations. And, with a little luck, this is where you can find ifm sensors. Inductive ifm sensors - somewhat hidden - are installed at many of the escalators in the underground stations.

They are used to monitor the brake system. The "yellow cover" is the flywheel of the motor.
