ifm wins two awards at the iF Design Award 2025

15/05/2025

Kira Deutscher and Matthias Ritz accepted the iF Design Award for ifm.

The PQ Cube pneumatic pressure sensor and the moneo Track & Trace software from ifm have received the iF Design Award 2025. For the company, this is the latest in a series of design competition successes spanning many years.

The International Forum Design has presented the iF Design Award every year since 1954. Originally limited to product design, the international competition now encompasses nine disciplines, including Packaging Design, Branding and Communication Design, Service, System & Process Design, Architecture and Interior Architecture as well as User Experience (UX), User Interface (UI) and Concepts. An international team of 131 jury members selected the best products from 11,000 submissions from 66 countries. The ifm PQ Cube pressure sensor and moneo Track & Trace software are two of the Essen-based automation company’s products which are winners of this year’s award.

The Products

Intuitive product tracking

With its Software moneo Track & Trace, ifm provides software for product tracking that impressed the jury, particularly in the Interfaces for Digital Media category and in the User Interface discipline. The solution is based on so-called "virtual stations" that replicate the real industrial environment. This includes simple drag-and-drop elements, clear visualisations and a design that is tailored to the needs of the user. "moneo Track & Trace makes it very easy for users to set up a tracking application within a very short time and without any programming knowledge. The award confirms this quality and is also the result of the continuous consideration of user feedback from field tests and internal and external user acceptance tests," explains Jan Wagener, Product Manager at ifm.

Pressure sensor with compact design

Der pneumatische Drucksensor PQ Cube impresses above all with its compact design. It is equipped with a robust measuring cell, two process connection options, IP65 certification, a choice of M12 or M8 connectors and a TFT colour display. The display visualises the process values, presenting them graphically in relation to the set switch points. A multilingual installation guide leads users step by step through the initial set-up process. The menu navigation remains familiar and easy-to-use with the new profile settings. The iF Design Award is not the first award for the PQ Cube: only last year, ifm received the Red Dot Design Award for this compact pressure sensor.

Team effort gets the job done

For ifm, it is the teamwork in particular that marks the design. "Despite some hurdles and challenges, we didn’t let that stop us from developing an ifm product offering a balanced combination of reliability, quality and usability," explains Martin Schmidt, Senior Industrial Designer and Usability Engineer at ifm.

With the two awards, ifm has also cemented its place in the international iF Design Ranking, which lists the most successful companies and designs of the past five years. ifm is among the top 10 companies in Europe in the "Industry" category.
