5 Segment stacklight

The dual use: standard digital inputs or IO-Link communication

  • ifm offers two different families of signal towers: DV25xx with IO-Link interface, and DV15xx with IO-Link interface AND digital inputs to control each segment
  • The DV25xx uses a single M12, 4-pin connector

With the IO-Link interface, you can control each segment in a very fast and flexible way. You can change the colour, the light intensity and the flashing frequency.

  • The DV15xx uses a single M12, 8-pin connector

In this version, you have also an IO-Link interface. But additional, you can use 6 digital inputs to control the 5 LED segments and the buzzer. So you can use this signal tower also in conventional machinery without IO-Link interface.

How to set up without IO-Link at the top of the stacklight

  • You can set the parameters of the stacklight without IO-Link
  • You can define the colour, the intensity and the flashing frequency for each segment

By means of a set button, the signal lamp can as well be set without IO-Link

  1. Remove the protective glass
  2. Initiate the setting operation by pressing the set button
  3. Setting operation

With the parameter setting button the following properties can be set for every LED segment:

  • Colour (red, green, orange, blue, violet, turquoise, white, yellow, off)
  • Frequency (permanently on, low flash rate slow/medium/fast, high flash rate slow/medium/fast)
  • Brightness (100 %, 75 %, 50 %, 25 %)

The three modes

If the signal-tower is connected to an IO-Link master port, it can be controlled via IO-Link.

There are three different modes available
The mode must be defined via IO-Link with the parameter "operating mode"
The following video gives a short introduction to the meaning of the three modes

1. ON/off mode
The desired segment of the lamp is switched on/off by setting  "1" in the corresponding bit in the process data flow. The segment lights according to the separately set parameters. You have to set the parameters via an acyclic communication.

2. RGB mode
The desired segment of the lamp is switched on in the required colour by setting an RGB code in the process data flow. The flashing mode is set via a BCD number in the process data flow as well. In this case, you do not need an acyclic parameter setting.
The properties of the LED segments are defined as follows.

3. Analogue mode
The display format of the analogue display is defined by setting a BCD number in the process data flow. The transmitted analogue value from 0 to 100% is signalled accordingly.
