Food industry

The world's population is growing and, hence, the challenge for the global food and beverage industry to meet the growing demand for safe and high-quality products. For over 50 years, ifm has been developing reliable automation solutions that make processes along the entire food chain more efficient.

Our specially developed food application product range comprises innovative position sensors, process sensors, control systems and connection technology. But – what makes an ifm product an ifm F&B product?

Stainless steel, for example, is a must in the food and beverage industries. However, does this suffice to turn an industrial product into a product suitable for F&B? A lot more is required than simply choosing the right material: the protection rating, for example. Why does ifm certify a product IP67, IP68 or IP69K? Only IP69K would do, right? Did you know how IP69K is defined and where the term comes from?

Moreover, you can expect insights into our test procedures for F&B products. Some of these procedures will be explained to give you an understanding of why this is important to you. These tests are done for ifm, but they are also conceived to give you confidence in ifm's products and to ensure that they will last in your application.

However, no matter how thoroughly we test our products, you would have no benefit from it if they were not certified for their hygienic properties. You will hear a brief explanation of the two most common hygienic certifications and how we meet these formalities in order to be a reliable partner for your food production.
