Video report

The Kögelhof biogas plant produces a lot of heat, which is used to dry firewood, among other things. Drying boxes can contain 300 m³ of firewood, which are delivered wet and dried with warm air. Water of 70 degrees from the biogas plant is piped to the heat exchanger where cold fresh air is heated to 60 degrees and is then fed into the box through underground channels. The warm air is used to extract the water from the firewood. Almost 40 tons of water are extracted.

Sensors are used at several points during the firewood drying process. For example, temperature and humidity are measured at various points to optimise the drying process. Thanks to ifm's moneo software, all the sensors can be monitored, which results in shorter drying times and thus higher efficiency.
