Spotted: ifm and dinosaurs?!
In China (Beijing), Depia Automation's dinosaur show presents life-size dinosaurs impressing the audience by means of automation technology. Among others, sensors from ifm are used.
The audience has been convinced: All shows in the National Indoor Stadium (capacity: 20,000) were sold out.
In the show, dinosaurs walk, eat, fight, sleep and do many other things.
All in all, the show features twelve completely automated hydraulic "animals".
Position monitoring etc. is done, for example, by ifm sensors. More than 800 sensors are being used; of course, not all are from ifm. As Depia Automations states: "Using a mix of the best brands like Siemens, ifm, HAWE Hydraulik, Scanreco, ABB, SICK we could only succeed...". 30 high-speed PLCs and 1000 synchronised robot movements are combined using robust RFID technology.
A special SCADA system* helps to monitor and control the 40-minute automated scenario.
In the background, a 6000 sqm HD screen is used to accentuate special effects.
