DMG MORI and ifm agree on technology partnership

9/12/2021

The aim of such a technology partnership, also involving ifm now, is the development of new, innovative technologies and solutions.

On 26 October the moment had arrived for Mr Schütte (Operating Officer DMQP), acting on behalf of Mr Grosch (Dept. Quality Partner), to present ifm with the certificate establishing the DMQP (Deckel Maho Quality Partner) partnership.

Deckel Maho Gildemeister MORI, the world's leading manufacturer of machine tools, has developed the "DMG MORI Partner Programme" true to the motto "cooperation strengthens innovation".

"Our joint development work on integrated process monitoring has resulted in new innovative products for both of companies," says Joachim Bodenberger, Managing Director ifm Vertrieb Deutschland. "DMG MORI recognizes outstanding technologies, which are incorporated in DMG products and trend-setting in the industry, with the DMG Mori Technology Partnership. We are very proud that ifm is among the limited number of their technology partners now. At the same time, we see this award as call to continue our journey towards digitalisation."

15 years of joint development work

The first meeting with Mr Grosch at the SPS Drives in 2018 to discuss a partnership had already been preceded by twelve years of joint development work between Michael Danitschek, ifm diagnostic gmbh, and Rolf Kettemer, DMG Pfronten. The following products for DMG have come out of this work: a spindle monitoring system (SDS) in 2007, and machine protection control in real time (MPC) in 2010/2011. Bus interfaces have followed as complementary products (2012 Profibus, 2017 Profinet). Since 2019, "balancing" has complemented integrated process monitoring.

"That ifm is an important development partner for DMG has become altogether apparent with the technology transfer of the above described achievements to Mori Seiki (parent company in Japan)", Joachim Bodenberger points out.
