DV1500 light tower awarded the Red Dot Award 2018

On 9 July 2018, the Red Dot gala took place at the Aalto Theatre in Essen. During the gala, the renowned Red Dot Design Award 2018 was presented.

This year, participants from 59 nations had submitted more than 6,300 innovations to the Red Dot Award: Product Design. Only products that convinced the panel of 39 experts by their high design quality were awarded.

One of the winners is the DV1500 light tower from ifm.

What makes the design of the light tower so special?
The DV1500 light tower enables the user to visualise different machine conditions by means of five different colours. The colours can be set via the user-friendly IO-Link PC software. The light tower's surface characteristics and shape are optimised so as to avoid any deposits of dust or liquids. The specially designed mounting adapter allows not only for vertical mounting but also for wall mounting with 90° rotation, without any additional components being required. The inner polygon lens emits sharp and efficient light visible from every angle due to its 360° ring shape. The tinted and impact-resistant lens cover filters the ambient light and increases the amount of attention drawn to the individual signal light. The light tower reflects the user-friendliness typical of ifm and an innovative design true to the corporate identity.

The Red Dot Award: Product Design, whose origins can be traced back to 1955, evaluates the best products of the year. In 48 categories, manufacturers and designers from around the world can enter their innovations in the competition. According to the motto "In search of good design and innovation", the Red Dot jury evaluates the entries and only awards a Red Dot to products that win them over with their high design quality.
