Pressure sensors are a key component for the safe and efficient monitoring of processes. They enable precise pressure measurement in liquid, viscous and gaseous media, providing the basis for reliable process control and quality monitoring. Whether in pneumatics, process engineering or demanding hygienic environments, accurate and reliable pressure measurement is essential for ensuring stable processes, high plant availability and optimum product quality.

Characteristics of pressure sensors

Depending on the application, pressure sensors must meet different requirements, which are reflected in the features of the various device versions. The following characteristics apply across the entire portfolio:

Depending on the model, the sensors feature digital displays and communicate via switching outputs, analogue output signals or industrial communication interfaces such as IO-Link. The versatility of the output functions allows for easy integration into existing controllers and automation systems.

Applications of pressure sensors

Pressure sensors are used in nearly all industries. The choice of the appropriate sensor type depends on the medium, measuring range, operating conditions and specific application requirements.

Typical areas of application are:

• Industrial applications: pressure measurement in liquids and gases, e.g. in hydraulics
• Hygienic applications: pressure measurement in the food and pharmaceutical industries
• Pneumatics: monitoring of system and control pressures, e.g. in compressed air systems

Suitable pressure sensors are also available for special applications such as hydrostatic level measurement or use in hazardous areas.

The portfolio: pressure sensors, pressure transmitters and pressure switches

A wide range of products is available for pressure monitoring, comprising three main categories: pressure sensors, pressure transmitters and pressure switches.

Electronic pressure sensors combine measurement, analysis and display in a single compact device. They measure the current process pressure and indicate the measured value directly on an integrated display. In addition, switch points can be defined to monitor limit values. Settings can be adjusted directly on the device using the buttons.

Pressure transmitters also combine measurement and analysis in a single device, but do not feature a display or buttons. This allows particularly compact designs that are ideal for confined spaces.

Pressure switches are specifically designed to monitor defined pressure limits. They switch an output signal as soon as a preset pressure value is reached or exceeded. This makes them particularly suitable for simple control tasks.

Adapters, accessories and calibration service

To ensure that pressure sensors can be integrated flexibly and reliably into existing systems, the right accessories are essential. The devices are available in versions with different process connections and can be easily adapted to various installation scenarios using additional adapters. Depending on the use case, adapters are available for various thread types, hygienic connections or special mounting options. This allows the pressure measurement to be tailored to the specific requirements of each application.
