FrieslandCampina – Digitalized CIP System
Maximum transparency in the cleaning process
How FrieslandCampina uses IO-Link to ensure the performance of its CIP system
High hygiene standards are part of everyday operations in the food industry. At the same time, cleaning phases between production processes need to be kept as short as possible to maintain high plant productivity. This means that the required cleaning processes must be carried out as efficiently as possible.
For FrieslandCampina, one of the world’s largest dairy cooperatives, modernizing a CIP (Cleaning in Place) system at its site in Aalter, Belgium, was therefore both an economic and a strategic project. The aim was to simplify maintenance of the CIP system in order to minimize downtime. At the same time, greater transparency in the CIP process was needed to ensure both the quality of the cleaning process and the quality of the dairy products.
