Outlook on future applications:

In future, also applications like level monitoring, volume measurement, distance measurement and depalletising will be possible.

ifm's O3D Sensor provides robots and machines with new "eyes". Shorten test cycles and processing times. Presently, new palletising, depalletising as well as pallet and mesh box pallet picking solutions are developed.

Application example:
Robotics

Reduction of palletising cycles due to rapid product localising.

Before:
Current solutions use moving line scanners to locate packages.

 

Afterwards:
The 3D camera technology detects all necessary data in one "snapshot".

 

 

Application example:
Automatic pallet picking

Rapid localising and identification of the pallet geometry.

Before:
Present solutions use line scanners to identify the pallet position and geometry for automatic pallet picking.

 

Afterwards:
The 3D camera technology detects the data in one "snapshot". The pallet is picked without any delay.

 

 

Application example:
Depalletising

Identification of "lost" transport boxes in order to eliminate the risk of breaking.

Before:
Depalletising by layers has become a popular method of quickly integrating products into the system.

 

Afterwards:
Loose boxes in one layer may cause damage when a robot tries to pick up the next layer of boxes. The 3D camera technology prevents such accidents by detecting the height of the layer and thereby identifying "lost" boxes in any position of the pallet.
