Zero-leak Test

Washdown conditions
The efector washdown sensors were tested in accordance with the IP69K standard. The goal of this test is to duplicate pressure cleaning conditions on a plant floor

Zero-leak test
In the test fixture, the sensors were exposed to a 1500-psi spray of water at a temperature of 140°F. The duration of each cleaning cycle was 30 seconds. The test was performed at specified angles using a spray nozzle located at a distance of 4" from the sensor.

Thermal Shock

Challenge
In repetitive thermal shock environments, traditional plastic sensors can have a wicking effect allowing moisture ingress. This can ultimately lead to sensor failure.

Thermal shock test
In pressure cleaning environments, proximity sensors can be exposed to extreme temperature conditions. A thermal shock test was performed on the stainless steel metal face sensors by cycling the temperature between 0° C and 100° C in short time intervals.

Results
After performing this test, the ifm’s metal face sensor still functions normally with 100% of its sensing range and zero ingress.
