Cabinet Module Provides a Low-cost CAN Option for Instrumentation Clusters and Dashboards

With its low profile design and compact housing, ifm’s CR2016 CANopen cabinet module provides a convenient solution for wiring the many I/O devices present in the control cab.

Traditionally large harnesses were necessary to collect all of the signals from joysticks, switches, indicator lights, and other controls. CANopen allows a dramatic reduction in wire harness size, while the CR2016 provides a versatile place to connect all of the I/O found in a dashboard using standard AMP junior timer connectors.

The unit integrates status LEDs for 16 inputs and 16 outputs, power, and communications. The I/O is very flexible incorporating analog, digital, and frequency inputs in conjunction with digital and PWM outputs. The module is simple to configure using the CANopen EDS file and built-in rotary switches.

Designed specifically for the mobile environment, the CR2016 features extended operational temperature range (-40 to 85 ºC), high resistance to EMI, short circuit and overload protection of the I/O, as well as advanced diagnostics.
