Photoelectric sensors for specific applications

Sensors for contrast detection

Contrast sensors detect marks the colour of which is in contrast to the colour of the background. The decisive factor for operational reliability is the difference in contrast between mark and background and the constant distance between sensor and colour mark. The material of the background is of no importance.

Sensors for glass and film detection

For retro-reflective sensors for glass and film detection the transmitter and receiver are incorporated into one housing. The transmitter emits a light beam which is reflected to the receiver by a prismatic reflector. In contrast to the normal retro-reflective sensor these retro-reflective sensors have a smaller switching hysteresis. Even low damping by transparent materials can thus trigger switching operations.

Sensors for non-contact level detection

Sensors for non-contact level detection detect bulk material and opaque liquids without contact on the basis of the time of flight measurement of a laser beam.

Sensors for colour detection

Colour sensors are used for the non-contact detection of opaque and transparent objects based on their colour. The transmitters emit light pulses in the three basic colours red, green and blue which are reflected by an object. The light received by the receiver is amplified, digitised and evaluated by means of a microprocessor. If the signal value corresponds to a reference value read before, the switching output is activated.
