ifm's infrared sensors are ideal for position sensing applications. They are used where non-contact detection of the position of objects is required. Unlike inductive proximity sensors, the target material is not important and the sensing range is much longer. The standard photoelectric sensors are divided into the following groups depending on the operating principle: Thru-beam sensors, retroreflective sensors, diffuse reflection sensors and diffuse reflection with background suppression.
