Robust Proximity Sensors for Reliable Position Control
Inductive proximity sensors are designed to detect the position of moving parts on mobile vehicles. Multiple sensors can be used on one vehicle to maximize the machine's operation and to protect its operator. These sensors provide continuous feedback on the operating condition of the machine's moving parts and send the information to the vehicle operator. To handle these important functions on a vehicle, ifm offers a line of 12mm, 18mm and 30mm diameter proximity switches to reliably monitor position.
The stainless steel housings resist shock and vibration in extreme outdoor environments. Zero-leak sensor housings are rated IP69K and protect the internal electronics from chemicals and liquid ingress. Highly visible LEDs indicate power and output status that assist in setup and monitoring, especially in direct sunlight.
A temperature rating of -40 to +85°C enable the sensors to operate in widely fluctuating temperatures. Noise-immune technology ignores conducted and radiated electrical noise. The sensors also feature long sensing ranges that increase the distance between the target and sensor which reduces the chance of impact to the sensor.
Custom electric terminations are available to interface to existing wiring harnesses.
Position detection applications include:- Gear detection
- Platform position
- End-of-cable detection
- Open-and-closed cab door position
- Crane position
