Cavitation warning
Requirement
Powder and liquid are dispersed with a high efficiency. Given that the powder carries air, there is an increased risk of cavitation on the stator, which assumes cutting functions. To obtain an FDA conform, documented production, the vibration diagnosis sensor "efector octavis" is to limit the maximum speed value, to prevent too strong cavitation.
Implementation
The vibration sensor efector octavis type VE1001 is used. It permanently monitors the frequency-selective oscillation amplitudes. For the evaluation, the system is operated at different rotational speeds with and without cavitation.
The measurement is carried out at two points:
1. At the housing of the centrifuge
2. At the pipe flange on the pressure side
efector octavis was installed at a point with an unambiguous signal and put into operation according to the operating instructions. When the disperser is started up, the vibration sensor can monitor the amplitude. The frequency is monitored by providing the rotational speed information to the speed input as current or pulse signal.
