Automation package for rising stem valves

Requirement
Everywhere in the food industry valves are used for shutting off, monitoring and controlling. They are decisive components for the safety, accuracy and reliability of plants. In order to reliably fulfil this task, sensors on the actuators of the valves are required in order to transmit the current valve positions to the controller or process control system via common interfaces.

Implementation
Conventionally, magnetic or inductive proximity switches assume this task. They signal end stops such as "open” or "closed” to the controller by means of a switched signal. However, the detection of intermediate positions is of increasing interest. It allows the recording of cleaning cycles for rising stem valves and the detection and visualisation of unwanted operating states by a continuous valve detection. This meets the increasing requirements of modern process visualisation. The complete set from ifm electronic includes everything required for the automation of a rising stem valve: rising stem valve sensor, adapter and an operating element made of stainless steel. Quick installation of the adapter and easy switch point teaching by pressing a pushbutton on the sensor reduce the installation time.

Customer benefits
As a result of the optimum distribution of force at the interfaces from the sensor to the adapter and the adapter to the actuator, this system is insensitive to mechanical stress such as vibration. Different adapters are available depending on valve manufacturer and type. This allows quick and easy installation.
