Fiber optic sensors can be used in applications with limited mounting space or as an alternative to a standard photoelectric sensor. ifm's fiber optic systems consist of an amplifier that incorporates the transmitter and receiver into one housing, and fiber optic cables that direct light to and from the transmitter and receiver. ifm efector's new multi-channel fiber optic controller is designed for applications that require multiple fiber-optic sensing points. A variety of glass and plastic fibers is available.
