ifm’s VK Series Vibration Switch Wins Design News' 2010 Best Product of the Year - Finalist
ifm efector's VK Vibration Switch was named a finalist in Design News' 2010 "Golden Mousetrap" Awards in the sensors and feedback devices category. Design News is a leading technical publication and resource for design engineers. Their annual award recognizes engineering innovation and creativity in product design.
ifm's VK Series Vibration Switch continuously monitors vibration levels of critical plant equipment to help prevent machine failure and expensive downtime. The compact VK switch is designed to permanently mount on a machine to monitor a machine's vibration level. The switch provides continuous feedback of vibration level by indicating a 4…20mA analog output. By detecting vibration changes when they first occur, the VK switch can prevent equipment from catastrophically failing, reduce secondary damage and eliminate expensive down time.
The VK switch eliminates the challenges with traditional vibration monitoring such as spectrum analysis and data collectors. Setup is quick using two setup dials rotate to adjust the maximum RMS velocity setpoint and response delay time. The switch provides an alarm if the setpoint is exceeded. Highly-visible LEDs provide local indication for power and alarm.
